Step 3: Test & Locking Gate

Your D.I.Y. Gate is fully installed, latched and adjusted. The last step is to test and make sure your gate is working properly. Push down and then pull up on the top handle to disengage as in Fig. 22 then using your other hand pull the gate open and make sure that it closes and clips shut so that it cannot be opened unless you use the latch release. Fig. 22a Repeat this a few times to make sure the gate is working properly.
